Red warrant issued on SL third secretary in Oman

Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawala yesterday (28) issued an open warrant to arrest the third secretary of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman, Ediriwarige Kushan, in connection with an alleged incident of sexual assault on women under the protection of the Sri Lankan Embassy in Oman.

The Magistrate also ordered the court registrar to issue the open warrant in English after taking into account a request made by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) as a red warrant needed to be issued on the suspect through Interpol.

The Deputy General Manager of the Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau had informed the CID in writing that the suspect was scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on flight UL 206 on the morning of the 24th, but the CID informed the court that he did not arrive that day.
