Rice, Kottu, Plain tea prices upped

The All Ceylon Restaurant Owners’ Association has decided to raise the prices of several types of food items following the price hike of domestic LP Gas.

The President of the All Ceylon Restaurant Owners Association announced this during a press conference held today (05).

Accordingly, the price of a plain tea will be upped by Rs. 10 while the price of Kottu and Fried Rice will be increased by Rs. 20 and Rs. 50 respectively.

3 more arrested over shooting of Halloluwa’s vehicle

Three more individuals have been arrested over the recent shooting at the vehicle of former Executive Director of the National Lotteries Board, Thusitha Halloluwa.

The individuals include the motorcyclist involved in the shooting incident, reports say.

The Colombo Crime Division (CCD) had arrested them yesterday (May 27) in the areas of Wattala and Kirulapone. 04 mobile phones in their possession were also seized.

The suspects are scheduled to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court today (May 28).

Further investigations are being conducted by the Narahenpita Police and the Colombo Crime Division.

Duminda back in Magazine Prison

Former Minister Duminda Dissanayake, who was initially transferred to the prison hospital after being remanded, has now been sent back to Magazine Prison.

The suspect was referred to the prison hospital for treatment on court orders.

Prison Media Spokesperson Gamini B. Dissanayake stated that Duminda Dissanayake was sent back to Magazine Prison after being examined by a specialist doctor.

He was arrested last Friday  in connection with the discovery of a gold-plated T-56 firearm at an apartment complex and was ordered to be remanded after being produced in courts.

Disability assistance allowance to be increased

The government has decided to increase the financial assistance for those with disabilities to purchase special assistive devices.

Accordingly, the previous assistance amount of Rs.20,000 per person will be increased to Rs.50,000.

This decision was made at a meeting of the National Secretariat for Persons with Disabilities (NSPD), chaired under the subject minister – Dr. Upali Pannilage.
