A Magistrate has been locked in the balcony of the upper floor of his house by a robber who stole his luxury car, the Piliyandala Police said.

The incident is said to have taken place in the luxurious two-storey house belonging to the Magistrate at Pinnawala, Madapatha in Piliyandala.

According to an advertisement published on a well-known website that the two-storied house is for sale, a person who came as a buyer has committed this robbery.

Police said the Magistrate had arrived at the house alone in his vehicle to show the house to the robber.

The car was parked in front of the house and the Magistrate opened the main door of the ground floor of the two-storied house. He had shown the robber each part of the house after placing the car key on the kitchen counter of the ground floor.

When the Magistrate entered the balcony, the robber had closed the balcony doors and ran downstairs, took the car keys and drove away in the car.

The Magistrate had jumped out of the balcony and entered the ground floor and informed the relatives and then the police about the incident over the phone.

The Piliyandala Police, Mount Lavinia Criminal Investigation Division and Western Province-Southern Crime Division officers have visited the house and launched investigations.
