Robbers have broken into the Ambalangoda residence of former Election Commission Chairman Mahinda Deshapriya, stealing items worth Rs. 300,000, police confirmed.
The stolen items include two gas cylinders, a television set, two gold chains, and four wristwatches.
Mr. Deshapriya and his wife currently reside in Colombo and visit their Ambalangoda home on weekends.
Upon arriving last Saturday evening, they discovered that the house had been broken into and immediately reported the matter to the police.
Ambalangoda Police, under the directives of the Galle District Deputy Inspector General, are conducting investigations into the incident.
