The Roshan Mahanama Trust (RMT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indira Cancer Trust (ICT) to formalize their ongoing collaboration.
This partnership aims to enhance their support for ICT and ‘Suwa Arana,’ Sri Lanka’s first pediatric palliative care center, by providing pediatric cancer medication and other essential services.
As part of this partnership, they are launching a campaign to reduce breast cancer through early detection with self-breast examinations and the ‘On Wednesdays, We Wear Pink’ initiative. They are also allocating significant funds to support Suwa Arana’s operational expenses and a transport fund for cancer patients traveling from Apeksha Hospital/Suwa Arana to their hometowns.
Roshan Mahanama, Chairperson of the Roshan Mahanama Trust, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “I have been a trustee of the ICT since its inception and I am delighted to provide ongoing support through my Trust. We have been supplying much-needed pediatric cancer medicine and assisting Suwa Arana in various ways. This MOU will further strengthen our partnership. We are grateful to ICT for the excellent services they provide to needy pediatric cancer patients and their families in Sri Lanka. It is heartwarming to see the progress children make due to the support provided.”
Dr. Lanka Jayasuriya, Chairperson of the Indira Cancer Trust, expressed her gratitude for the support from RMT: “It has been a pleasure to work with the Roshan Mahanama Trust, and we are very thankful for the assistance they provide to ICT and Suwa Arana. This partnership will undoubtedly enhance our relationship and help needy pediatric cancer patients and their families during critical times.” Both ICT and RMT are registered charities in Sri Lanka, focusing on crucial areas such as health, education, and child protection.
