Rs. 19 bn. daily loss due to delayed solar project

The daily loss due to the delayed solar project in Siyambalanduwa is Rs. 19 million, it is learnt.
This was informed to the by the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority at a meeting of the Sectoral Oversight Committee on Energy and Transport on Aug. 09.

Officials of the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority had informed the SOC a court case with regard to the entrance route is ongoing and it is not possible to use the road until the case is concluded.a

Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill passed

The Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill was passed by a special majority, without amendments in Parliament today (Feb. 17).
A division was called for the Third Reading of the Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill which was passed in Parliament. During the Third Reading vote, 158 votes were cast in favor.

SL women’s squad for NZ tour, announced

A 16-member Sri Lanka Women’s Squad has been selected by the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Selection Committee to tour New Zealand later this week.
The team, captained by Chamari Athapaththu, will leave the country on Feb. 22 and will play 03 ODIs and 03 T20Is.

The ODIs will be played on 04th, 07th and 09th of March, while the T20Is will be played on the 14th, 16th and 18th of March.
