According to a latest report issued by the National Audit Office, seven vessels worth over Rs.280 million of the Sri Lanka Coast Guard (SLCG) have been abandoned without being utilized.
Furthermore, the audit report stated that the machinery donated by the Australian Coast Guard worth Rs.20 million was not included in the financial statements under non-financial assets and it was not disclosed.
Although the gross value of a ship donated by the Sri Lanka Navy and a vessel donated by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime was estimated at Rs.70 million, the National Audit Office said that the value was not included in the financial statements.
This information was found in the audit report submitted to the SLCG for the year 2022.
