Rs.5mn stolen from a safe at CBSL!

The Colombo Fort Police has received a complaint yesterday (11) evening about the disappearance of Rs.5 million from a safe at the Central Bank.

The officer in charge has complained that one of the bundles of money in a safe room with high-security systems and cameras on the third floor of the building was missing.

Central Bank officials said that bundles of money worth Rs.20 billion that were prepared to be taken to other banks for the New Year have been stored in the safe room and one of them had been stolen.

Meanwhile, the complainant has said that they will recount the bundles.

Accordingly, an investigation has been launched by a team of police officers led by Colombo Fort OIC Lakmal Wijeratne under the instructions of Western Province Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police Deshabandu Tennakone into the incident.
