Rs.6.5mn theft at KDU Hospital

The copper scraps of the Lightning Conductors (LC) worth over Rs.6.5 million installed in 10 buildings of the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) Hospital in Werahera have been stolen.

Senior electrical engineer of the hospital Lt. Col. P.K.D. Godakanda has made a complaint to the Boralesgamuwa Police yesterday (22).

According to the complaint, the value of the stolen copper belts is about Rs.6,597,000.

The theft had taken place between January 30 and July 3.

Initial police investigations revealed that there is no room for outsiders to enter the hospital premises and steal items without being detected.
