Safety concerns on Maho-Omanthai line, addressed
Sri Lanka Railways has issued a statement with regard to concerns raised over the safety of the railway operations in the Maho – Omanthai stretch in the Northern railway line.
The statement notes that while some trade unions have periodically raised concerns over the line’s safety, Sri Lanka Railways has implemented measures to ensure the safety of passengers, vehicles, and pedestrians at railway crossings.
Several test runs were conducted on the line, with the participation of trade union representatives, to address these safety concerns, the statement notes, adding that all issues raised during these trails were addressed and that the line remains safe for public use.
