A ban has been imposed on reclaiming low-lying land and activities like soil washing and sanding in the Kaduwela Municipal Council area to help prevent flooding from the Kelani Ganga.
These decisions were made during the Regional Development Committee meeting held at the Kaduwela Divisional Secretariat.
Work has already begun on strengthening the banks of the Kelani Ganga as a short-term solution.
