Investigations conducted by the CID have resolved many details pertaining to the theft of the Sandagala (moonstone) from the Kundasale Udamaluwa Archaeological Reserve.
It has now been revealed that a group of people around a powerful politician in Kandy are directly involved in this theft.
It is also being revealed that a billionaire businessman, a coordination secretary of the aforementioned politician, and Pradeshiya Sabha member maintaining close links with that politician are also directly involved.
It is said that the billionaire businessman of Kundsalaya area is well known for earning large amounts by loaning out of black money to various people on interest.
The CID is investigating to arrest the mastermind behind this crime.
