The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) said the operations of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery will be resumed from today (16).

Steps were taken to suspend the operations of the refinery due to lack of imported crude oil.

The CPC said a ship carrying 90,000 metric tons of imported crude oil has arrived at the Colombo Port and the necessary payments have been made.

The unloading of crude oil to the tank complex of the refinery has already commenced.

Meanwhile, President of the Petroleum Trade Unions Alliance Ashoka Ranwala said that steps will be taken to carry out the operations of the refinery at full capacity.
