A special parliamentary session, chaired by Speaker Dr. Jagath Wickramaratne, is scheduled to take place today to present the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the local government elections.
Following this, Parliament will debate the Local Authorities Elections (Special Provisions) Bill next Monday.
If the Bill is passed, the subject Minister will be granted the authority to call for new nominations for the elections.
