The Supreme Court has determined that the Online Safety Bill or its provisions are NOT inconsistent with the constitution of Sri Lanka, and can be passed by a simple majority following committee stage amendments on certain clauses.

The Supreme Court determination was announced by the Deputy Speaker in Parliament today (07).

He said that the Supreme Court determined that a series of clauses in the bill must be passed by a special majority, however, if those clauses are amended in the committee stage, the Bill can be passed by a simple majority.
