Sri Lanka’s Supreme Court issued an interim order preventing the acceptance of nominations of the Local Government Election for the Kalmunai Municipal Council until the 19th of January 2023.
The order was made by Supreme Court Justices Vijith Malalgoda, Yasantha Kodagoda, and Mahinda Samayawardena upon considering a Fundamental Rights application filed by M. A. Mohamed Saleem.
The Supreme Court also issued an order to issue notice to the Chairman and Members of the National Election Commission who were named as respondents in the application, to appear in court.
