Seven Sri Lankans who tried to illegally enter Israel have been arrested in Jordan.

The Jordanian Army website said that these seven Sri Lankans were arrested yesterday (16) while crossing the border and were handed over to relevant authorities.

In recent years, there have been several incidents of unauthorised entry of people from Africa, Asia and Turkey at the Jordanian-Israeli border seeking employment in Israel.

It is reported that 52 people who tried to enter Israel were arrested last year and 23 people were arrested in the first quarter of this year.
