A ship carrying coal will reach the country on the 25th, the Lanka Coal Company (Private) Limited said.

Its Acting General Manager Namal Hewage said the coal stock will be imported from the company with which the agreement was made earlier and that four more coal shipments are planned to be imported until December.

He said the coal reserves to operationalize the Norochcholai Power Plant will last only until the 30th and the Power Plant can be operated without any hindrance since the ordered coal ship is reaching the country.

Also, a tender has been called to select a new supplier to buy coal and the tender period is scheduled to end on the 25th.

Plans have been made to purchase coal from the supplier selected through tenders from December.
