Shooting was a result of prevailing system: Uddika

Published

on

MP Uddika Premarathne commented on the shooting attack on his car, in Parliament today (19).

The MP said that he believed that the shooting incident was a result of the prevailing system in the country.

“On the night of the 17th, my vehicle was shot at. Now, the police and the Criminal Investigation Department are probing the incident. I want to thank everyone who checked up on me. I think it is the current system that’s behind the shooting. We all know that this system is wrong. The people of our country also know that this system is wrong. The social system and the politics are also wrong. That’s why the whole country is in this situation today. There are mistakes on both sides. We need to change this, we need to find the root cause. We need to find exactly what we need to change. Until that change is brought to this country, I don’t think our country will change. If we do that, I believe we can develop this country. This country is asking for that political and social transformation. We always talk about applying this change to this country. That’s why we are being threatened. Everyone should work together to change this. As young MPs, we will continue to work for that change,” he said.
