Police have decided to introduce a sticker for vehicles transporting groups of devotees who will attend the special exposition of the sacred Tooth relic.
The event, named the ‘Siri Dalada Vandanawa’, will be held from April 18 – 27.
The sticker is expected to help the police to identify such vehicles easily and direct them to the designated vehicle parks as well as to record the number of devotees attending the exposition.
Accordingly, the Police Headquarters has already informed all Police OICs to issue the stickers to such vehicles in coordination with the Public Safety Committees established in each Police Division.
A sticker will be issued per vehicle with the signature and official seal of the relevant OIC.
Vehicles are informed to display the sticker on the top left of the windscreen in a manner that does not hinder the driver.
However, police emphasize that this sticker is not mandatory and devotees are able to attend the exposition even without one.
