MPs of the main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) led by Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa have attended the parliament this morning (Jan. 09) donned in black.
The action was a symbolic protest against increasing the Value Added Tax (VAT) to 18%.
The first parliamentary sitting of 2024 commenced at 9:30 a.m. this morning, presided over by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.
