He was arrested by the Welikada Police for indecent exposure to a group of people including the principal of a famous girls school in Nawala, Rajagiriya at the Welikada Police premises.

Producing the suspect in the court, the Welikada Police said that the police received a complaint on 23/03/2023 about a WhatsApp group where reports defaming a school in Nawala have been shared.

Police informed the court that five or six persons, including the principal, parents, teachers and the suspect councillor were summoned to the police to investigate the complaint, and the councilor was released after being advised not to continue unlawful acts. The lawyer who appeared for the suspect said that the videos have been doctored.

Police informed the court that the mobile phones of the teachers have been forwarded to the Computer Division of the Criminal Investigation Department to obtain a report.
