‘Sri Lanka Mirror’ learns there is a possibility of the electricity supply to the state owned Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC) being disconnected tomorrow (03).
This is because the SLRC has not adhered to the bill payment plan prepared in agreement with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) to pay the arrears bills.
It is said that the SLRC currently owes the CEB a staggering 25 million rupees as pending payments. The SLRC also owes Sri Lanka Telecom nearly 27 million rupees as well.
However, former SLRC president – W.B. Ganegala has obtained concessions from the Electricity Board from time to time in order to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.
Currently, both the top positions of chairman and Director General of SLRC are vacant and the Secretary of the Media ministry – Anusha Palpita has appointed the ministry’s Additional Secretary (Administration) Mr. E. M. S. B. Jayasundara to oversee the work of the DG’s position.
