A special committee was appointed in Parliament today to probe the maritime disasters of MV X-Press Pearl and MT New Diamond and to make necessary recommendations.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena said that this committee would be chaired by Minister Ramesh Pathirana.
The other members of the Parliament Select Committee are Dr. Suren Raghavan, Diana Gamage, Prof. G.L. Peiris, Vijitha Herath, Dr. Sarath Weerasekara, Niroshan Perera,
Ajith Mannapperuma, Nimal Lanza, Dr. Kavinda Heshan Jayawardhana, Akila Ellawala, Nalaka Bandara Kottegoda, Thushara Indunil, Rauff Hakeem and Madhura Withanage.
