Paediatrician at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children – Dr. Deepal Perera states that a recent spike of fever cases can be seen among children these days.
He attributes this to a rise in viral infections and dengue cases.
Dr. Perera says that symptoms of viral fever, such as cough, cold, body aches, and occasional vomiting can be present, with some symptoms mimicking those of influenza.
He urges that parents should closely monitor children’s symptoms, and seek medical attention especially if a fever lasts more than three days.
