Sri Lanka has been elected to the executive board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the term 2023-2027 with 144 votes, the Foreign Affairs Ministry said.
“The Foreign Affairs Ministry , together with the Embassy of Sri Lanka in France and the Ministry of Education is pleased to have spearheaded the successful campaign for Sri Lanka’s election,” it says.
In the Asia-Pacific Region, six out of nine candidates were elected by UNESCO member states.
