Meanwhile, All Ceylon Bakery Owners Association President N.K. Jayawardena said that there is a shortage of eggs and the price of an egg has increased to Rs.48. Therefore, he said eggs will be imported by next week.

All Ceylon Egg Producers Association Chairman R.M. Sarath Attanayake said only 5 million eggs are being produced daily at the moment although the daily requirement is 5.5 million.
