A Sri Lankan woman died in a fire that erupted at a hotel in Bani Yas, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Deputy General Manager of the Foreign Employment Bureau Gamini Senarath Yapa said that five other people who were caught in the fire died.
The deceased was a woman who went to Abu Dhabi for work on a tourist visa in 2021.
Mr. Yapa said that the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi was still in the process of confirming her identity.
Meanwhile, the Deputy General Manager said that information is being received through the High Commissioner’s Office in Malaysia regarding the alleged incident of a Sri Lankan woman dying after falling from an apartment building.
He said that no specific information about such a death has been received so far.
Police Spokesman Nihal Thalduwa said that the Kobeigane Police received a complaint that a 42-year-old married woman had died in Malaysia.
She had left for Malaysia for domestic work in December last year.
