Labor and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara said that the sending of domestic workers abroad will be stopped from March next year.

The minister said this while speaking at a ceremony held at the Foreign Employment Bureau to celebrate the International Migrants Day.

“Sri Lankan women will not be sent for domestic work from March 31. Going beyond household duties, the advanced housekeeper training will be increased and an NVQ certificate will be given.”

“Only an individual with a ‘skill passport’ will go abroad from March 31,” he added.
