State Vesak festival 2025 in Nuwara Eliya
The Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs has announced that this year’s State Vesak Festival will be held in the Nuwara Eliya District.
The national Vesak week has been scheduled from May 10 to 16, under the theme “Bhajetha Mitte Kalyane”, which means “associating with virtuous and noble friends.”
During a discussion on the festival arrangements, minister Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi emphasized the importance of celebrating Vesak with the participation of all ethnic communities, fostering Buddhist inspiration and unity.
It has been proposed that the state Vesak day celebration take place on May 12, coinciding with the Vesak full moon day, in Nuwara Eliya.
