Station masters have warned they will not hesitate to withdraw from services for a week, if their demands are not met.

President of the Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Union Sumedha Somaratne said that they would do so if solutions are not given to their issues during the discussion with the Subject Minister on Tuesday.

He added that they hope to receive a positive response and that the ministry secretary will issue necessary instructions to the General Manager of Sri Lanka Railways.

He said they are confident that they will receive a positive response during the meeting.

Mr. Somaratne also said the token strike launched by the Sri Lanka Railway Station Masters’ Union, which ended yesterday midnight, was successful.
