Students caught using WhatsApp during O/L Maths paper

The Examinations Department said that three cases of cheating were reported during the GCE O/L examination yesterday (06).

The Department said that a candidate of Wellassa National School, Bibila, had sent the mathematics question paper to a teacher via WhatsApp using a mobile phone and received the answers.

In addition, two incidents of cheating were reported at the Henegama Maha Vidyalaya and at another examination center in Seeduwa.

These candidates have also been caught by invigilators while trying to get the answers by sending the mathematics question paper to the teachers using mobile phones.

Deputy Examinations Commissioner Lasika Samarakoon said that legal action will be taken regarding these incidents.

O/L tuition classes banned from May 1st

The Department of Examinations has announced the prohibition of tuition classes and seminars for the 2023 GCE Ordinary Level exam, effective from midnight on the 30th of April.

Deputy Commissioner of Examinations, Lasika Samarakoon, emphasized that strict measures will be taken against individuals found violating this regulation.

Preparations are underway for the GCE O/Level exam scheduled to take place from May 6-15.

Additionally, the Department of Examinations has revealed that the results of the recently concluded GCE Advanced Level examination will be released in May.

Iran – SL sign 5 MoUs (Video)

Iran and Sri Lanka signed five memorandums of understanding (MoUs), aimed at bolstering bilateral relations between the two countries.

The MoUs signed will cover cooperation in film, media, tourism, cooperatives, libraries, and cultural, scientific, technical, and sports fields between the two countries, the Presidential Media Division notes.

Earlier in the evening, the Iranian President – Dr. Ebrahim Raisi and his Sri Lankan counterpart President Wickremesinghe held one-on-one discussions, followed by a bilateral meeting between representatives of both nations at the Presidential Secretariat.
