Police have initiated an investigation into an incident where a school Principal had forced several students to put the polythene and newspaper wrappings used to wrap their meals, in their mouths.
The incident is reported from the Rambukpitiya Central College in Nawalapitiya.
Two students who had fallen ill afterwards, have been admitted to the Nawalapitiya District Hospital with symptoms of upset stomachs and vomiting, reports add.
The students had wrapped their meals thus, ignoring advice to avoid polythene wrappings. Citing the police complaint filed by the students’ parents in this regard, the police say that the wrappings were discovered by the Principal, who had forced the students to put them in their mouth.
