Studying law only in English

The Council of Legal Education has stated that law entrance examinations can be conducted in Sinhala and Tamil but legal education must be conducted in English, Justice Minister Wijayadasa Rajapakshe said.

Meanwhile, Minister Ali Sabry said that conducting legal studies in English will produce a lawyer equipped with the knowledge of English language.

Minister Sabry questioned why law cannot be taught in English, if courses like medicine, engineering and management are also taught in English.
