The strike initiated by officials of the medical laboratory services and physiotherapy sectors, affiliated with the Supplementary Medical Service, was temporarily suspended today (May 28) at 8:00 am, according to Chairman of the Joint Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine (JCPSM) – Ravi Kumudesh.
This decision was made following a discussion held yesterday (May 27).
According to JCPSM General Secretary – Chanaka Dharmawickrama, unless the Ministry of Health promptly resolves the issue of recruiting supplementary medical service graduates to the government sector – through fair dialogue and with presidential intervention, the trade union action is likely to continue indefinitely.
