The Government Surveyors’ Association has launched a trade union action by applying sick leave today (26) against the ‘arbitrary’ actions of the Minister of Lands.

Its President Duminda Undugoda said that they expect solutions to several issues in the Survey Department as well as to issues that have arisen in the surveying profession.

“While claiming that there are no funds in the country, the surveying works have been handed over to the private sector. We informed the minister and the ministry secretary about our trade union action a week ago, but there was no response. If there is no solution, we will apply sick leave again on August 2 and hold a protest in Colombo,” he said.
