Suspect arrested for firing shots at house in Kandana

The main suspect in the recent shooting attack on the house of a businessman in Kandana was arrested with ‘ice’ drugs, the Police Special Task Force (STF) said.

It has been revealed that the 26-year-old suspect is a close associate of Rasika Chamod or ‘Chuti Malli’ who is currently abroad and is believed to be an organized criminal and drug dealer.

The STF said that two grams and 350 milligrams of ice were seized from the suspect.

It was revealed that the arrested man is the main suspect who aided and abetted the incident of firing shots at the house of a businessman in Piyum Mawatha, Kandana on August 4.

The suspect has been handed over to the Kadana Police for further investigation.

Lorry carrying explosives seized on Habarana-Trinco road

Police have seized a lorry transporting explosives along the Habarana-Trincomalee main road.

According to police, officers attached to the Hatharas Kotuwa Police had stopped and inspected the vehicle during a routine check, during which they discovered a bag containing C-4, a highly explosive substance, hidden beneath the dashboard near the driver’s seat.

The seized stock of explosives had weighed 156.07 grams. 

The lorry driver was taken into custody.
