Suspect arrested over killing female at Kahathuduwa interchange

A man has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake over the alleged murder of a woman near the Kahathuduwa interchange of the Southern Expressway yesterday (Jan. 09).

The suspect – a 47-year-old named Ellawala Liyanage Dunston Prasad Perera, is said to be the paramour of the victim, was arrested at the BIA as he attempted to flee the country last night.

He is also said to be an elder brother of a major drug trafficker operating abroad.

The victim, a 41-year-old employee of the Civil Aviation Authority, was killed after her throat was slit near the Kahathuduwa interchange.
