A suspect who was arrested for stealing a firearm from a guard room at the Panagoda Army Camp has been found positive for HIV for a long time.
The suspect was arrested along with Godagama Khettarama Chief Incumbent Malambe Seelarathana Thera.
The Sergeant Major, who aided and abetted the theft, had also maintained a close friendship with Seelarathana Thera.
Since one of the suspects has been identified as HIV positive, police have taken steps to inform the health officials in order to examine those who had maintained close contacts with him.
