A 29-year-old suspect was killed in an exchange of fire with the Police Special Task Force (STF) at Horampella in Minuwangoda last night (19).
The suspect involved in a murder had allegedly shot at the STF officers with a T-56 firearm when a group of STF officers arrived at the location to arrest him.
The STF officers had also opened fire at the suspect who died after being admitted to the Minuwangoda Hospital.
Police said the deceased was identified as the main shooter of a criminal gang and the main suspect in a homicide in Homagama.
The STF and the Minuwangoda Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
