Suspects arrested over Athurugiriya shooting, remanded

Seven suspects including the tattoo studio owner arrested in connection with the shooting incident in Athurugiriya on July 08, have been remanded by the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court.

The were ordered to be remanded until July 22 after being produced before the court today (July 10). 

Police yesterday arrested seven suspects including the owner of the tattoo studio in Athurugiriya, where the shooting incident took place.

The other arrested individuals are suspected to have aided and abetted in the shooting incident.

During the investigations carried out thus far, it has been revealed that the owner of the tattoo studio has received an amount of Rs. 1 million over a period of time.

Earlier, Athurugiriya Police had recorded statements from five individuals including the owner of the tattoo shop in question.

The shooting incident had resulted in the death of two including Surendra Wasantha Perera alias ‘Club Wasantha’ and injured 04 others.

Krrish case : Another judge recuses (Update)

Another High Court Judge appointed to hear the case filed against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) – MP Namal Rajapaksa over the controversial ‘Krrish’ project, has recused himself.

This time, it was High Court Judge Sujeewa Nissanka who had announced his recusal.

Earlier today (March 27), Colombo High Court judge Manjula Thilakaratne announced his recusal from the case.

High Court judge recuses from ‘Krrish Case’

Colombo High Court judge Manjula Thilakaratne today (March 27) recused himself from the ongoing ‘Krrish’ case.

The case is filed against Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Namal Rajapaksa over an alleged misappropriation of Rs. 70 million related to the Krrish transaction.

Special notice for Lankans in S. Korea

The Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea has urged Sri Lankan nationals living in the country to remain vigilant over the wildfires originated in Central Uiseong County.
Issuing a statement, the Sri Lankan Embassy in South Korea has requested Sri Lankans to refrain from visiting the affected areas, as possible.

They have also been requested not to use flammable products such as barbecue equipment.
