An investigation has been launched by the police to arrest a tuition teacher in Kalutara who is said to have sexually harassed 16 students.
It was reported that the teacher had sexually harassed the schoolgirls inside a classroom and inside his vehicle as well by taking them to a forest area in Lagoswatta, Kalutara on the pretext of dropping them off at home.
It was also said that links have been sent to the girls to conduct classes through Zoom technology, and they have been instructed to strip when their parents are not around. The suspect had recorded these scenes as well.
Police sources said the teacher’s wife had found all the recorded videos on his laptop and then she had informed the parents of the girls.
Among those who were molested is the daughter of an officer of a police station in Kalutara Division.
The suspected teacher who teaches mathematics has fled the area.

It was reported that sexual allegations have been made against the principal of a leading girls’ school in Kalutara.
She has been accused of having an illicit relationship with a teacher and seeking the help of two students to maintain the affair.
In addition to this, she had recently invited a candidate contesting for a municipal council in the area to the school and organized a political event in violation of election rules.
The parents said that they have complained about these incidents to the authorities, but there has been no result.
The 16-year-old student who died recently after falling from the third floor of a hotel and her friend who accompanied her are students of this school.
