Wadduwa police say that a fire has broken out at a thread factory along the Morontuduwa Road, in Melegama, Wadduwa.
A large amount of electrical equipment and thread stocks have been completely destroyed and the property damage is thought to be over Rs. 10 million.
Two fire engines of the Kalutara Urban Council were deployed to douse the fire and were backed by the Wadduwa police and area residents.
An electrical leak is said to have been the cause, leading up to a property dama suspected to have caused the fire.
