Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident in which Manawaduge Asanka alias Parippuwa, a member of an organized crime gang, was shot at in Kotuwila, Wellampitiya.
The Wellampitiya Police said the rider of the motorcycle, as well as those who assisted and planned the shooting were among the arrested.
The motorcycle was found abandoned in Borella.
According to the police, two persons who arrived on a motorcycle opened fire with a T-56 firearm at Parippuwa and some of his close associates.
One of the close associates of Parippuwa was seriously injured in the shooting.
