Three members of the same family died when a cab and a three-wheeler collided head-on in Nuga Yaya on the Wellawaya-Thanamalwila Road last night (4).
A 44-year-old police sergeant of Thanamalwila, his 42-year-old wife and 70-year-old father who were travelling in the three-wheeler were killed.
A small child who was injured in the accident was admitted to the Monaragala District Hospital.
Police said the driver of the cab was under the influence of liquor and did not possess a driver’s license.
He has been arrested and the Wellawaya Police are conducting further investigations.
