A trawler with three Indian fishermen were taken into custody for poaching in Sri Lanka’s territorial waters off the Kovilan Lighthouse in Karainagar, the Navy said.
It said the arrests were made during a special operation conducted last night (19) to chase away Indian poaching trawlers from Sri Lanka’s waters.
The seized trawler and the arrested fishermen were brought to the Kankesanthurai Harbour and they will be handed over to the Mailadi Fisheries Inspector for onward legal proceedings.
