The Ministry of Trade says that they are attentive to the matter of how prices of bakery and canteen products are being reduced in relation to the strengthening of the Sri Lankan Rupee.
Noting that the Consumer Affairs Authority has received public complaints on the price reduction percentages, the ministry says that an investigation is also underway to determine whether the bakery and canteen owners have passed on the benefit of the strengthening of the rupee, to the consumer.
The Ministry further adds that measures are underway to hold discussions with bakery and canteen owners in this regard.
