The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) has decided to launch a programme to document the traffic violations committed by its drivers.

SLTB Accident Investigation Manager Eranda Perera said that this decision was taken to encourage safe driving after taking into consideration the recent accidents involving SLTB buses.

Accordingly, it has been planned to introduce a book to document the traffic violations of each driver.

In 2023, 218 SLTB buses were involved in accidents resulting in the death of 19 people.

He said that the SLTB has to pay nearly 30-40 million rupees per year as compensation for these accidents.
