Train travel on the upcountry line have been restored to normalcy.
Trains on the route were disrupted after a freight train derailed in the area between the Talawakelle and Watagoda railways stations.

Freight train derails on upcountry line
A train delay was reported on the Upcountry Line due to the derailment of a freight train which was travelling from Kandy to Badulla this morning (23).
The Railways Department said that the train derailed in the area between the Talawakelle and Watagoda Railways Stations.
Meanwhile, the department said that the passengers of the Udarata Menike Train plying from Badulla to Colombo and the Podi Menike Train plying from Colombo to Badulla will be transferred to other trains near the site of the accident.
Restoration works of the railway line are continuing.
