The Locomotives Operating Engineers Union has stated their strike will continue for the 4th day today (10).
The protest centers on delays in second-class promotions, recruitments and several other unresolved issues, according to the Union.
Locomotive drivers from two out of five running sheds have joined the strike, which has resulted in the suspension of power set train operations.
Meanwhile, though 47 office trains were scheduled to operate according to the Railway department this morning, 20 of them were cancelled according to the Union.
The Railway department has stated that 11 trains to Fort, Colombo on the main route, 4 from the Chilaw and Northern route, 18 from the coastal belt routes and 3 from the Kelani Valley route to Fort, Colombo will be in operation.
In addition, 7 trains on the coastal belt from Colombo, and all other long distance trains will operate as usual, according to the Railway department.
